Masefire GEO 2476 – Brunton-type 5010 Geological Compass, made in Brazil
The Masefire GEO G5010 geological compass (ref. 2476) is a professional field instrument for geology, mining, tunnel engineering, and geotechnics. It is a Brunton-type compass (pocket transit) manufactured and hand-calibrated in Brazil since 1998. The body is machined from a single block of polyacetal, an engineering polymer: it does not rust, does not dent like aluminum, and weighs only 297 g.
5 instruments in one piece of equipment
- Surveyor's compass – azimuths and bearings from 0 to 360°.
- Prismatic compass – sighting with mirror and sight for distant targets.
- Two inclinometers / clinometers – including the hinge inclinometer, to measure the dip of layers, fractures, and slopes.
- Hand level – two bubble levels with external reading.
- Plumb bob – verification of verticality in the field and on-site.
What makes the Masefire GEO 2476 different
- Monoblock polyacetal body: high resistance to impact, corrosion, and humidity in underground mines and tunnel faces.
- Lightweight and compact: 297 g, for long mapping journeys.
- Two-position needle lock (locked/unlocked), which protects the pivot during transport.
- Splash-proof (IPX3).
- Domestic manufacturing, with permanent Masefire GEO technical support in Brazil: no import waiting times, with replacement and support in Portuguese.
- Includes leather case with belt loop and wooden box with label and QR code.
Who is the Masefire GEO geological compass for?
- Mining companies (open-pit and underground): mapping of working faces, faults, joints, and veins; geological bench control.
- Tunnel engineering and underground works: mapping of the excavation face (subways, road and railway tunnels, hydroelectric plants) and collection of discontinuity attitudes for rock mass classification (RMR, Q-system) and support design.
- Geotechnics and dams: slope and hillside stability, kinematic analysis, dam and road cut inspection.
- Exploration and mineral research geologists: strike and dip of layers, foliations, and lineations in outcrops.
- Environmental, licensing, and engineering consultancies: field surveys, EIA/RIMA, technical reports.
- Quarries, construction companies, and surveying: leveling, inclination, plumbing, and face orientation.
- Universities, technical courses, and research institutes: geology, mining engineering, civil and geographic engineering; field classes and structural geology.
- Oil and gas, speleology, Civil Defense, and Armed Forces: orientation and field measurement in harsh environments.
Applications
Measurement of strike and dip of geological planes, trend and plunge of lines, azimuths, bearings, vertical angles, and slope gradient, as well as leveling and plumbing. It is the classic tool for structural geology, geological mapping, geotechnics, and quality control in mining.
