DQL 8 model compass in bronze and brass with leather case

DQL 8 model compass, constructed of solid brass and with a reduced location capability compared to Brunton-type models, yet effective for outdoor use. It features a needle locking mechanism adjustable to two positions (locked or unlocked), a clinometer with 2º increments, allowing for 1º readings, two bubble levels on the outside of the instrument body, a needle with an NdFeB magnet, which is more resistant to demagnetization; its azimuth precision of approx. 1/2º with a 1º graduated scale allows for readings of up to 10 minutes. It has vertical angle measurements of approx. 90º or 100% slope, a percentage scale with 5% graduation, a damped needle supported on a sapphire bearing, allowing for smooth needle movement, quick and precise readings, adjustable magnetic declination, allowing for east or west adjustments of up to 45%, and a semi-transparent mirror for precision alignments.
