Brunton-style compass. This beautiful piece combines features of a surveyor's compass, prismatic compass, clinometer, bubble level, and plumb bob (this is not a precision instrument). With two viewing options, you can sight through a small aperture in the lid that acts as a peephole, or fully open by aligning it with the articulated arms. The inside of the lid features a mirror with a vertical line. The perimeter of the compass face has a compass rose, and inside there are two bubble levels and a mobile scale for portable use. On the bottom of the compass, there is a screw that moves a mechanism; this rotates the interior of the compass to regulate the inclination angle and thus adjust for local magnetic declination (the difference between magnetic north and true north). Closing the compass lid activates a needle lock, preventing it from rotating and thereby avoiding any damage during transport. On the outside of the compass, there is a bubble level adjustment that allows for altitude angle measurement (by viewing the level with the mirror tilted at 45 degrees). This model has an azimuth precision of 1º and a resolution of ten arcminutes for vertical angles. It comes with a beautiful black leather carrying case. Weight: 142 grams. Height: 33mm. Width: 56mm. Length: 60mm.
